MEET OUR MEMBER CORPS
One if Wisconsin's oldest and most successful corps, the Appleton Americanos first formed in 1936 as the American Legionnaires. in the 1950's the corps opened its membership to non-Legion boys and eventually changed its name. Following a ten-year membership drought, the corps admitted girls into its membership and grew to more than 120 members in the early 1970's, bringing many championships both in Wisconsin and nationally; placing 6th at the A.L. Nationals in 1970 and second in 1975. The 'Canos were also finalists in the 1980 VFW Nationals and made finals in both DCI Midwest and the US Open in 1974 .

In 2005 the corps membership diminished significantly, and after many attempts, never again took the field. In 2009 the Americanos Alumni Association formed with the goal of participating in SDCA's arena shows this season.

Massed Finale CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN: CHARTS AND MP3's

Our mission is to provide a venue for any size drum corps, to promote membership and to encourage new community based drum corps by performing an entertaining music and marching program while educating the music student as well as the public in drum corps style and history

OUR CONCEPT:
  • The SDCA Associate Corps include all junior corps, senior and alumni corps, and all-age corps.
  • Performance venues can be either ARENA DRUM CORPS on a basketball court or on a football field. We are flexible but would like at least 10 horns
  • The SDCA shows will be judged by the audience as a "people's choice" and critiqued by professional staff.
  • SDCA does not want to effect a corps' involvement with DCI or DCA.
  • The SDCA season could be March thru October.
  • All drum corps are invited to join.

The Small Drum Corps Association depends upon you, the drum corps fan, to support its efforts to bridge the drum corps gap through the arena drum corps venue. Please help us achieve our goal to provide this type of entertainment to the drum corps community.
